Greetings Ace Combatants, we have some exciting announcements to make!
Firstly, today marks the first major update to the Official Lighthouse Website for 2018, and we do sincerely apologize for the long wait this has been. Hopefully, with these major announcements, we can more than make up for lost time. So, without further ado, let's get started!
o New Articles in-bound! We now have a new article by our Master Article Crafter, Ribbon Blue, regarding a fan-favorite armament in Air-to-Ground operations: The SOD (Stand-Off Dispenser). In it, one will learn the tips and tricks in how to use them, along with learning about the various models used throughout the Ace Combat Series. In addition, we have an article on the way where we analyze the balancing between the many members of the Su-27 Flanker Family throughout the franchise. Expect it to arrive sometime in March.
o Let it be known Lighthouse is not populated by Robots… not that I know-of anyway. Some corrections have been made to the Nations of Strangereal alternate-language wallpapers. Specifically: The German Grammar on the Belkan Wallpaper has been improved, and English Text that was not replaced by Romanian on the Romanian-Language Estovakian Wallpaper has been summarily replaced.
o Our Blog has received a much-needed make over. Taking cues from several prominent aviation blogs, we now have categories and a proper archive along with a search bar added. Now, everyone can search through our blogs and in-general articles with greater ease, something useful as our site grows ever larger. All articles have been updated to meet this new standard.
o On our front page, we now have a more thorough and organized summary of Lighthouse's official mission statement and what exactly do we do and why, given that this has been an oft-made question. Hopefully, this new section will help answer these questions for everyone.
o Coming very soon will be Lighthouse's first official Fan Fiction Contest. Although the rules are currently being finalized, we can tell everyone that the contest will focus on Short Stories and One Shots. This means no shorter than 800 words, or at maximum roughly 5,000 words (assuming one continues to add 800 words a day for a week). Expect more news on this contest within the month.
o Along with a Fan Fiction Contest, we will be hosting an Aircraft Livery Contest! In homage to the contest Project: ACES held during Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, we want you to design a livery for the Su-47 Berkut. The winning design will be turned into an actual skin by our team of PSP Skin Creators that can be used in-game via emulation and will be made available for download on our site. o Pictures! Pictures! Pictures! We are creating an extensive memorial for Ace Combat Infinity as a final farewell to this Free-to-Play entry into the franchise as it ends service on March of 2018 called the "Ace Combat Infinity Fly Out Ops Memorial". Expect More information soon.
o Starting April, we will create an art gallery for the official site to feature Digital and Traditional works created both in-house and by fans from far and wide to showcase a collection of artists. o Lastly, we will be announcing a "Ikaros in the Sky Translation Drive", expect more information within the month.
o Finally, we have revamped our photography page in anticipation for future events! Next, time to announce upcoming events for 2018!
o On a final note, we have a serious announcement to make. Given the recent activity we have seen in this public channel both within the text channels, and behind the scenes, Lighthouse feels it is time to restructure our Moderation Team to better address and handle issues that may arise. To accomplish this, we have made a sign-up form that is now available for all members to fill out. If you are interested in helping us maintain our quiet and peaceful corner of Discord happy and friendly to everyone, please sign up! Thank you everyone, and have a wonderful day!
Cae Lumis, Chief of Project Lighthouse
Ribbon-Blue here, hoping that your holiday season was made a bit more enjoyable with the Project: Lighthouse fan translation of the prologue for Ace Combat: Ikaros in the Sky. Though it was released just three days ago we are already receiving valuable feedback. Alongside some edits, info we can use to better manage future releases and streamline the process has also been obtained. As the next wave of materials is being prepared for translation, I will discuss this information. Click "read more" for more information and photos.
Seasons greetings and happy holidays from Project: Lighthouse. This is the first blog post for December and one of two posts to be made this month. This post includes updates for the Ikaros in the Sky Translation, an aircraft skin design contest and a original aircraft magazine.
Ikaros in the Sky Update 02
Translation of the prologue of Ikaros is complete. Translation of other story materials has also begun with the translation of Chapter 01 starting in January 2018. We are aiming for a December 25th, 2017 release of the prologue and other introductory story materials. The translations will be posted into a soon to be opened area on this website specifically for the book.
Aircraft Skin Contest
An upcoming aircraft skin design contest is to start in January 2018. Contestants will be presented with a blank three view of an aircraft. Contestants will have the entire month of January to add their own design to the aircraft and send it to Project: Lighthouse through the designated contest page. The submitted paint schemes will be featured on the Project: Lighthouse website with a winning design selected. This winning design will be modded into Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception and Ace Combat X2: Joint Assault. The event page for this contest will be opened on January 1st, 2018.
Original Aircraft Magazine
Various members of Lighthouse have begun constructing a magazine style presentation of their own original aircraft designs. The magazine only features aircraft they themselves have designed from the ground up on paper, with 3D graphics programs and through other means. Development of the first magazine has begun.
