The F-15E -Yellow Squadron- is one of the most unique aircraft paint schemes available in the Ace Combat series. Seeing the series famous paint scheme of the 156th TFW Aquila on anything but a Sukhoi Flanker is cause for head turning.
This particular paint scheme of the F-15E Strike Eagle was only made available as a pre-order in Europe and Japan for Ace Combat 6. For reasons unknown the F-15E -Yellow Squadron- and the F-15E -Mobius- were not pre-order bonuses for the North America. A handful of images of this aircraft are available on the official Project Aces website for Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, but an extensive collection of photographs has not been made available until now. The photographer, Ribbon-Blue adds his own comments on flying the aircraft online and the unique way he came into ownership of it.
"In AC6, the Su-33 Sea Flanker also had a downloadable Yellow Squadron paint scheme with special aircraft stats that boosted its performance. This F-15E doesn't have any changes in its performance but while flying it online, the reactions of others almost made it feel like it did. Even though it was a pre-order for other parts of the world I can't ever recall seeing them very often through my years of playing Ace Combat 6 online. Explaining why a Strike Eagle was wearing a famous Su-37 paint job was always a interesting ice breaker in pre-game lobbies. The occasional "you're hacking!" comment would cause all sorts of laughter, usually followed a long explanation. Anytime you flew this aircraft you'd have to be on your A-game. Due to how unusual it was everyone wanted to add a Yellow Squadron F-15E to their personal kill count."
"I actually did not pre-order Ace Combat 6 and didn't gain access to this aircraft until well after the game came out. At the time, I was the leader of an online squadron known as 12th MNAT Ribbon. I was given the DLC code by someone who was a squad mate and friend at the time. The set of codes that he gave me were part of a grand prize for winning one of the few official Ace Combat online tournaments that was co-sponsored by Namco-Bandai. He had defeated many other players in a Battle Royale tournament using a F/A-18F Super Hornet and Semi-active Air-to-Air Missiles; I remember watching the video shortly after the tournament had ended. It has been years since we last spoke but whenever I take this F-15 out, I can't help but remember the battles we went through together from back then."
