1st year anniversary! This update is the first of a few to be made by different staff members and creators of the Project Lighthouse. Each post will contain a small selection of near future or long-term announcements related to our operations with a personal message from these individuals at the end of the post. This update is done by Ribbon-Blue, one of the three primary leaders of Project: Lighthouse.
Thank you, everyone! An entire year has gone by and truthfully I wasn't expecting so much to have happened within this time. Let's get to the updates first:
Ikaros Fan Translation Update
Aces At War 2011 Scan Project
A Blue Dove for the Princess Hardcover Format Recreation
Another rare Ace Combat book, hardcover copies of A Blue Dove for the Princess were available for purchase in 2011 through the Namco Bandai Games LaLaBit Market. Paired with the Razgriz Air Division patch, this book was produced as a commercialized version of the story referenced in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War and seen occasionally within its cutscenes. This commercialized version maintains a storybook-like format and includes exclusive illustrations created for its physical release. Ribbon-Blue has offered to provide images and scans of his copy of the book as a reference to recreate the exclusive illustrations and present a digital version of the book in a format similar to how Project: Lighthouse is presenting Ace Combat: Ikaros in the Sky.
Projects Beyond Ace Combat
While there are certainly other small parts of other Ace Combat guides, artbooks and Master Files that can be scanned, the scope of Project Lighthouse does go beyond that. Whether its books such as "Fairy Air Force At War" from the Yukikaze series, Air Force Delta background material, Master File books, aviation-related indie works from Japan or similar works, are all under consideration. We would like to hear any suggestions for aviation-related material that you would like to see scanned or potentially translated. Feel free to leave your suggestions in the comment section of this post or contact us through our other methods.
Anniversary Message: Ribbon-Blue
What started off as a concept I was invited to take a look at has rapidly changed over the past 12 months. Changed into something I could not have foreseen back then. After participating in online fan squadron affairs, forum management, competitions, website creation, Electrosphere.info database management, and many other smaller projects since late-2004, I genuinely thought I was done with anything Ace Combat or flight video game related in a public capacity. Through the invitation of the two co-founders (Cae Lumis and Izanagi) to discuss the concept of what Lighthouse could potentially be, I agreed to step in early on to see where this would all go. It was different from what I had seen up to 2016. While some parts of it were more idealistic than others, at its core it seemed to have something unique that genuinely interested me. I can say that I'm truly grateful for being given the opportunity to have a decisive role to shape Lighthouse into what it is today. After a year of operations, I personally feel as though we've finally dialed ourselves in.
As usual, you'll see me around in the Discord chats and on the website. Creating and managing pages on the website, writing articles, hunting around for interesting memorabilia, lesser known games and doing my best to take decent pictures for image galleries. Thank you all for watching our journey to this point. I look forward to putting some more interesting content out there for you all!
