Ace Combat 101 is an article and video series designed to introduce new players to the Ace Combat series and welcome back returning fans. This collaboration between Ace Combat Fan, Project Lighthouse and Tomcat 171 is designed to be easily understandable without having to view dozens of web pages and videos.
Work on this project has been underway well before this project was announced. Ace Combat Fan and Tomcat 171 are providing video content dedicated to game play. The videos will cover a range of topics including basic aerial maneuvers and advanced tactics. All videos will be available on their YouTube channels. Project: Lighthouse is creating a series of articles that will explain the franchise, the original world Ace Combat world "Strangereal", the type of series Ace Combat is and more. Each article will have an optional drop down menu to allow for further explanation on certain subjects. The final combined product of this project will be hosted on the Project: Lighthouse website in the form of a single web page where all content can be accessed in a unique presentation.
Large scale collaboration efforts are somewhat rare in the Ace Combat online community. The last community project of similar size and scope was the Infinity Ace Seminar. That guide was a spoiler free introduction and quick start guide for Ace Combat Infinity. It was created by two community created and operated Ace Combat information websites, Acepedia and Electrosphere.info. When completed, the Infinity Ace Seminar was promoted by the official Ace Combat Facebook page on May 27th, 2014, the same day Ace Combat Infinity received its world wide launch.
Ace Combat 101 combines the expertise and experience of long established Ace Combat content creators, and members of the Ace Combat online community that have been playing the games since the 1990s. Distilling this knowledge into an easy to read and watch experience is the goal of this project.
