After approximately one year of work, we are proud to announce that the English translation of Ace Combat: Ikaros in the Sky is now complete:
One Year Ago
In December 2017, Project: Lighthouse began translation efforts for Ace Combat: Ikaros in the Sky in earnest. The initial focus was on preparing clear, flat scans of the text within the book for easy translation. Rather than deal with the bent or blurry scans found in certain places on the internet, the decision was made to utilize a paperback copy of the book owned by Ribbon-Blue. The pages were separated from the spine of the book, which provided the base materials for the translation effort. However, problems in finding an accurate and consistent translator arose quickly. On June 8th, 2018, Ace Combat Fan collaborated with Project: Lighthouse to further propel the project and assist with securing a translator. Project activity became more consistent with new translations from English to Español and Português, provided by Ace Combat Fan, Cubeboy and Legend Razgriz.
As the project continued at a steady pace after June 2018, a decisive turn was made on August 15th, 2018 with the addition of TaskForce 23 as the primary Japanese to English translator. From that point forward, the entire project took off starting with re-translation of the prologue and chapter 1, which then continued until the English translation was completed.
From start to finish this project was staffed by die hard Ace Combat fans from around the world with new members joining the project even now to provide translations from English to new languages: Deutsch with BG and Français with Re:Ribbon.
Project: Lighthouse would like to thank and congratulate all original and new members that made the translation of Ikaros in the Sky possible for Ace Combat fans around the world to finally enjoy in their own languages. Our work continues, but this milestone is cause for celebration.
