The coverage of Gamescom 2018 was a significant step forward for Project: Lighthouse. This event summary of Gamescom also acts as a thank you to all of those that joined us for our coverage and the members of our team that made the coverage and follow on articles possible.
Our planning for Gamescom 2018 began on July 9th, 2018 once it was confirmed that a representative from Project: Lighthouse would be attending. During the lead up to the event, coordination between our members from various countries resulted in many firsts of our team.
August 22nd, 2018 was the day of our first livestream. While our representative Belkan Government and his assistant Hazawa spent the day visiting the Gamescom 2018 Ace Combat 7 booth eight times in total, our team members and other content creators supported them on Discord, social media channels and our website front page. Timezone differences caused some members of the support staff to elect to remain awake for over 24 hours, rather than take the risk of missing the time their support was needed. During the same time frame support staff also completed an analysis of the Ace Combat 7 Release Date trailer and performed an interview with the Lighthouse Representative. The final parts of our coverage came with the release of our first YouTube video which features off camera footage of the Ace Combat 7 demo seen on the livestream.
Our first experience providing coverage for an event was valuable and has encouraged us to attend other events in the future. The Lighthouse staff and other creators that provided support are listed below:
