Ribbon-Blue here with an update on the official beginning of our translation efforts. A poll was held this weekend concerning the beginning of our first translation project. Of the three titles selected, Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War was selected. Rather than start with information available on the official Japanese websites, Lighthouse has decided to use its unique access to the Ace Combat Zero Perfect Guide. I will also be discussing our other translation efforts, which include our effort to translate the book: Ace Combat: Ikaros in the Sky.
Multilingual Article Format
The feedback received about our first Multi-Language Article Demonstrator was much appreciated. I'd like to personally thank everyone that sent in the feedback. The development of the International section of our website depends heavily on the results we receive with our efforts in regards to these demonstrators. To state it plainly, if the demonstrators succeed, we will be able to have one article on one page capable of presenting many languages. If the demonstrators do not succeed we will have to implement one page for each language for each article. Over time, that's a lot of pages on the back end of the website. We continue to rely on your reviews on the demonstrators, so thanks once again!
ACZ Perfect Guide and Ikaros in the Sky
These books are a part of my Ace Combat collection alongside other guides for AC2, AC3, AC4, AC5, AC6 and ACX. My opinion is that the information within a book is more valuable than the book itself. The only book I treat as a prized treasure so far is my hardcover copy of A Blue Dove for the Princess. As such, I have decided to go through extreme measures to ensure that high quality scans can be used for accurate translations of the ACZ Perfect Guide and Ace Combat Ikaros in the Sky. With black nitrile gloves, X-Acto knife, Ace Combat soundtracks and my work area prepared, I begin the process of removing pages from the books themselves. Do not mourn the brave sacrifices of these books, it's for a greater good.
Separating the pages from the spine of the book isn't easy and small cuts to the edges of the pages are inevitable, but so long as the content of these pages remains clear translation can proceed smoothly. I'll be as careful as possible to keep any damage to the pages (and myself) to a minimum.
Translation of information from Ace Combat Zero will be a more targeted effort, only focusing on about 12 pages specifically. Ikaros in the Sky will be a more complete translation. Lighthouse plans to approach translating the Ikaros chapter by chapter, starting with the prologue.
Stay tuned for further updates concerning Lighthouse translation efforts on this blog, but be sure to keep an eye on your Twitter and Facebook feeds for quick updates. -Ribbon-Blue Comments are closed.
